Sigyn is a Nymph Goddess, half-Aesir, and half-Vanir, the daughter of Njord and an unnamed Aesir. She's one of the youngest goddesses as she was born after the Aesir-Vanir war ended. Out of all the other gods she is particularly close to Höðr and Baldr. Most of her upbringing was in charge of the female goddesses, particularly Frigg.

While she is not a fighter, not being particularly well versed at it, she is a powerful sorceress and incantation wielder. Her sweet nature and disposition made her the target of the affections of Týr and Heimdallr, though, in the end, Odin decided to promise her to Týr. She didn’t complain about it since he was rather kind towards her and she was hoping for a happy, calm life with him and her heart was particularly swayed by him.

However due to some circumstances with her pseudo father figure Odin to appease the rest of the Aesir and his blood brother, Odin decided to hatch a marriage and since Sigyn was the only unattached goddess it was thus decided that she will marry Loki (and due to her youth and her reclusive nature, had only seen him a handful of times before they got married) despite the previous promise to Týr.

Her marriage to him produced two sons, Narvi and Vali, as well as a mix of both good times and bad times since Odin's choice weaved her into Loki's life and all the tragedies that eventually befell over him and her.
